REDWOOD CITY, CALIFORNIA - CALIFORNIA MICROWAVE, INC. (Nasdaq National Market: CMIC) announced today that its Microwave Network Systems (MNS) division has completed work on phase one of a three-phase contract to build a new Public Safety Communications Network for the state of Delaware. The three phases of the $23 million microwave communications project correspond to Delawareís three counties. Phase one was in New Castle County in the northern part of the state. Phase two covers Kent County in central Delaware; equipment for that phase has been delivered to the field and should be installed during the next few months. Phase three material should be shipped in the spring of 1997 to Sussex County in the south. MNS did the path engineering, supplied the equipment, including its TELESTARë 6-GHz and 10-GHz radios, staged the system in its facility in Glendale Heights, IL, and then shipped it to the field for prime contractor Motorola for phase one, as it will do for the other two phases. The MNS contract for its part of the project is valued at about $4.5 million.
