New position at California Microwave: Gilbert F. Johnson Named Chief Operating Officer

GILBERT F. JOHNSON NAMED CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

REDWOOD CITY, CALIFORNIA - CALIFORNIA MICROWAVE, INC. (Nasdaq National Market:CMIC) announced today the appointment of Gilbert F. Johnson, 65, to the post of president and chief operating officer, a new position for the company. He reports to California Microwaveís chairman and chief executive officer, Philip F. Otto, 55.

According to Otto, "Since I joined the company in 1992, our sales have more than doubled from $221 million to the $461 million we reported for fiscal 1996. As a result of this growth, weíre placing individuals with deep operating experience or top-flight marketing credentials in managerial roles throughout the company. No one at California Microwave has broader operating experience than Gil. I am delighted that he has accepted this additional responsibility." Johnson has held a wide variety of operating positions at California Microwave since he joined the company in 1973.
