ALEXANDRIA, VA, August 7, 1997 --- Comark Digital Services (CDS) and Microwave Radio Communications (MRC) will work together to provide broadcasters with comprehensive solutions for the transition to digital television (DTV), it was announced today. Under the terms of the agreement, CDS, a division of COMARK Communications, Inc., will work with MRC, a division of California Microwave, to offer integrated systems for digital television. The companies will work together to ensure interoperability of DTV equipment and systems. CDS will market and sell MRC digital studio transmitter link (STL) products to broadcasters. "Our goal is to offer broadcasters the best possible technology, and MRC is clearly the preeminent manufacturer of digital video microwave products," said Mark S. Richer, Vice President and General Manager of CDS. "Microwave Radio Communications is committed to providing broadcasters the most appropriately engineered solutions to digital video microwave requirements. MRC looks forward to providing those solutions to CDS customers," said Robert J. Morrill, President and Chief Operating Officer of MRC. MRC is a worldwide provider of state-of-the-art microwave systems. It works closely with many of the world's leading broadcasting and video transmission providers, delivering broadband microwave radios that are ideally designed and configured for STLs, regional networks, outside broadcast, and electronic news gathering (ENG). California Microwave is an international leader in wireless and satellite communications. Its microwave radios and satellite earth stations are key elements of telecommunications infrastructure in both developing and developed countries. CDS was recently formed to help broadcasters develop and implement successful strategies for digital television.
