REDWOOD CITY, CALIFORNIA - CALIFORNIA MICROWAVE, INC. (Nasdaq National Market:CMIC) announced that it had won a $2 million contract to supply digital microwave radios for Telecommunicaciones de Rio de Janeiro S.A. (Telerj), a regional operator within Brazil's national telephone system. The radios, from the company's Microwave Network Systems division, will be used in Telerj's 1996 Data Network Infrastructure Expansion program. Telerj awarded a contract for the expansion of its telecommunications transmission network in the Rio de Janeiro area to California Microwave's Brazilian partner, Infranav.

Brazil: Privatization Spurs Telecommunications Market Infranav is a Rio de Janeiro-based limited partnership, specializing in the installation and maintenance of telecommunications systems. In addition to the Telerj project, Infranav currently has active contracts with four other Brazilian regional operators. California Microwave, Inc. is a leader in wireless communications. The company operates facilities in seven states and sells into more than 110 countries. International sales accounted for 48% in fiscal 1995; sales to Latin America were 13% of total sales. California Microwave is the number one U. S. supplier of microwave radios and telecommunications satellite earth stations used in wireless communications.
