CALIFORNIA MICROWAVE NAMES TWO EXECUTIVE VICE-PRESIDENTS
FOR MICROWAVE NETWORK SYSTEMS DIVISION

REDWOOD CITY, CALIFORNIA - CALIFORNIA MICROWAVE, INC. (Nasdaq National Market:CMIC) announced today the appointment of two executive vice presidents in its Microwave Network Systems division, headquartered in Houston, Texas. W. F. (Rick) Montgomery has been named executive vice president for product development and James R. Gordon has been named executive vice president of sales.

Field Experience Brings Customer Insights to Product Development
Montgomery was a co-founder of Microwave Networks, Inc. (MNI), which was acquired by California Microwave, Inc. in 1995 and merged in 1996 with California Microwaveís other microwave divisions to form the Microwave Network Systems (MNS) division. Montgomery was vice president of engineering at the companyís inception, then became vice president of international business development. In 1992, he moved to Singapore to open MNIís Asia-Pacific office with the title of vice president of sales, Asia-Pacific.

Montgomeryís 20 years of experience include positions in engineering management and design engineering at Texas Instruments, Gardiner Communications, and BE Industries. Montgomery received a BS in Electrical Engineering with honors from North Carolina State University and performed graduate studies at North Carolina State and Southern Methodist University.

Centralized Sales Management Improves Responsiveness
As executive vice president of sales, Gordon now oversees all California Microwave MNS sales efforts. Gordon joined MNI in August 1988 as vice president of business development and subsequently became vice president of marketing; vice president of sales, Europe, Middle East, and Africa; and vice president, domestic sales.

Gordon has 24 years of experience in the microwave transmission industry, having previously served as vice president and general manager of San/Bar Corporation and filled various sales and management roles at Harris Farinon. He also taught engineering mathematics for three years at the College of San Mateo. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Cogswell Polytechnic College, a Master of Science degree in Telecommunications Management from Golden Gate University, and an MBA from the University of Florida.
