CALIFORNIA MICROWAVE APPOINTS ANDREW MILLER
VICE PRESIDENT AND CORPORATE CONTROLLER

SUNNYVALE, CALIFORNIA - CALIFORNIA MICROWAVE, INC. (Nasdaq National Market:CMIC) announced that Andrew D. Miller, 37, has been appointed vice president and corporate controller. Miller replaces Lanny B. Myers, who is retiring and served as corporate controller from 1978 to 1995, and most recently filled the position on a consulting basis. Miller is responsible for company-wide financial and accounting processes and will be focused on integrating the various financial functions throughout the company as it prepares for global expansion. He reports directly to California Microwave's executive vice president and chief financial officer, Donna S. Birks.

Operational Excellence Requires Integrated Financial Process
Miller has 16 years of management experience in finance, administration, operations, and information technology in high-technology business environments, both domestically and internationally. During his seven-year tenure at Silicon Graphics, Inc. (SGI), he led the finance and administrative function for the Sales and Service Division as it grew from $200 million to over $1.6 billion, and most recently, led an initiative to reengineer the forecasting and planning processes to enable the company to develop improved internal financial plans and to reduce inventory while improving delivery performance and customer satisfaction.

"As California Microwave refocuses its strategy, we are reviewing our operations and business processes. We have an opportunity to reduce our cost structure by eliminating non-value-added work. Andy Miller, with his strong credentials, will be a key contributor to improving our net operating results. With the addition of a strong controller and a chief information officer, who we announced recently, we're building out our financial team, which is essential to implementing our strategy for accelerated growth and profitability," commented Donna Birks.

Substantial Experience in Field Operations
Prior to joining SGI in 1991, Miller served in senior controller and financial management positions at Network Equipment Technologies, Inc. (N.E.T.), where he was responsible for SEC reporting, tax and corporate accounting, including development of standardized service costing processes, and at Amdahl, where he was responsible for worldwide financial policies and technical accounting. >From 1982 to 1986, he was a senior accountant at Deloitte and Touche. Miller holds a BS in commerce from Santa Clara University and is a certified public accountant with the State of California.
