CALIFORNIA MICROWAVE SUPPLIES SATELLITE EARTH STATION
FOR DIRECT-TO-HOME TELEVISION IN CANADA

Redwood City, California - California Microwave, Inc. (CMIC-Nasdaq) announced that its Satellite Transmission Systems (STS) division has won a $2.4 million contract from AlphaStarĘ Television Network, Inc., a wholly-owned U.S. subsidiary of Tee-Comm Electronics, Inc. STS will supply a satellite communications earth station uplink facility for direct-to-home video broadcast service from the AlphaStar facility located in Oxford, Connecticut.

Direct-to-Home Video Broadcast Expands in Canada In April 1995, STS won an award from Tee-Comm for a satellite uplink for AlphaStar Canada, that country's first digital direct-to-home satellite service. These two uplink facilities currently provide more than 115 channels of programming to American and Canadian homes, and this will expand to more than 200 channels by mid-summer.

STS' computerized Graphical Monitor and Control SystemĘ (GMACS) will simplify operation of the new Tee-Comm's uplink station. The uplink station uses the most advanced digital broadcasting techniques and will include 700W TWT amplifiers and a filter-combining network which will enable simultaneous transmission of up to 24 satellite transponders of video programming.

California Microwave, Inc. is a leading U.S. supplier of satellite earth station and microwave radio infrastructure products, installed in more than 110 countries.
