CALIFORNIA MICROWAVE'S MRC DIVISION TO OFFER DYNAPIX
COMPLETE CAMERA-TO-STUDIO WIRELESS VIDEO SYSTEM
FOR ELECTRONIC NEWS GATHERING

SUNNYVALE, CALIFORNIA--CALIFORNIA MICROWAVE, INC. (Nasdaq National Market:CMIC) announced today that its Microwave Radio Communications (MRC) division is offering the DynaPIX TRIADTM and Super TRIADTM true diversity wireless video systems from DTC Communications, Inc. as part of MRC's complete package of digital video transport solutions. The DynaPIX system consists of a camera-mounted transmitter and a rack-mounted true diversity receiver. MRC will demonstrate the DynaPIX TRIAD system at the National Association of Broadcasters Convention, booth #8324 in the Las Vegas Convention Center, April 6-9, 1998.

Wireless Camera System Accommodates Late-breaking Stories
The DynaPIX system extends the range and convenience of electronic news gathering (ENG) vans, making it possible to have a wireless connection from the news camera to the van. Using wireless transmission, TV stations can get breaking stories on the air quicker and get closer to the action.

The DynaPIX system is the only commercially available true diversity wireless video system, using up to five receivers to simultaneously analyze each arriving video signal. The system will automatically switch to the best signal during the horizontal interval, dramatically reducing the impact of multipath signal cancellation and other microwave signal fades.

Transmitters are available with either Anton/Bauerä or NP-1 mounts. Each TRIAD receiver comes with three to five receivers installed. Circularly polarized antennas are also provided. All seven channels in the lower ENG band can be used simultaneously with the Super TRIAD, while the TRIAD supports two channel operations.

Long-sought Solution at Right Price, Right Performance
"Television news gathering operations have long been interested in wireless camera systems, but it has been difficult to find the right balance between price and performance. With the DTC DynaPIX system, we're confident that we have the right solution for our customers. The performance of the DynaPIX system is truly impressive. Also, DTC has integrated that performance into an easy-to-use package," said Dave Erikson, MRC vice president of sales.

DTC Communications, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of wireless video, audio accessories and audio transmission products for the broadcasting and law enforcement markets. Its DynaPIX true diversity wireless video systems have quickly become an industry standard. Based in Nashua, NH, the company markets it products worldwide.

California Microwave's Digital Video Initiative

From news gathering systems and program contribution links to distribution links, MRC and EF Data will demonstrate the television industry's broadest range of satellite and terrestrial microwave systems for digital video applications. While many of the equipment elements in the total DTV production and transmission chain are still being developed, MRC and EF Data are delivering proven products for digital video transport applications.

The Microwave Radio Communications division of California Microwave is the leading U.S. provider of analog and digital microwave systems for video transport applications. The EF Data division is a pioneer in advanced satellite modem techniques, providing the higher data rates and higher link availability required for digital video applications.
