Redwood City, California - CALIFORNIA MICROWAVE, INC. (CMIC-Nasdaq) announced today that its Microwave Network Systems (MNS) division has received a contract in excess of $1 million to supply equipment for relocation of the Escambia County, Florida, emergency communications system. Making Room For Personal Communications Services Equipment to be supplied include MNS' CM6 high capacity digital microwave radios. The 12-hop, 6-GHz DS3 network should be completed by early summer. The loop system will replace the county's 2-GHz analog emergency network, which serves organizations such as emergency medical services, police and firefighters. The changeover is to be accomplished with minimal network downtime. Escambia County is at the western end of the Florida Panhandle. Much of the relocation effort will take place in Pensacola, the county seat. PrimeCo Personal Communications L.P. is establishing a new personal communications services system and is relocating the county's emergency network to clear the frequencies.
