Redwood City, California - CALIFORNIA MICROWAVE, INC. (CMIC-Nasdaq) announced
today that its Microwave Network Systems (MNS) division has begun delivery of
digital microwave radios to Telkom South Africa under a $3 million contract
for 260 terminals for its GSM digital cellular network infrastructure. The DR 18-GHz 4E1 and 16E1 point-to-point microwave radio equipment will be installed throughout the republic by Telkom South Africa, the national telecommunications company. Telkom South Africa is part owner of Vodacom, one of the two GSM operators in South Africa. The new terminals will bring to 600 the total number of DR 18 radios in Telkom South Africa's digital cellular network. The terminals are being supplied through Dimension Data, MNS' representative in South Africa, which also is providing technical support. James R.
