Cal Mike Executives


Frederick Lawrence joined California Microwave in July 1997 as Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer and President, from ComStream Inc., where he was chief executive officer. ComStream is wholly owned by Spar Aerospace Limited of Canada. Prior to joining ComStream, Mr. Lawrence served from 1994-1996 as president, Transmission Group for ADC Telecommunications. From 1982-1994 he held executive positions at Sprint Corporation. He also held senior management positions at AT&T from 1970-1982. Mr. Lawrence holds a BSEE from Western Michigan University.

Donna S. Birks Donna S. Birks joined the company as executive vice president and chief financial officer in December 1997. She has 15 years experience in the telecommunications industry, working in the wireless products, systems and services segments. She has held senior executive financial and general management positions at ComStream, Macrovision and GTE Spacenet, with responsibilities for financial management, strategic planning, human resources, contracts, licensing, international business development, sales and marketing management, acquisitions, divestitures and business analysis. She holds an MS in Finance from American University, a BS in Business Administration from George Mason University and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Dr. Daniel Scharre joined the company in September 1997 as vice president and chief technology officer, from ComStream Inc., where he was vice president and chief technical officer. Prior to joining ComStream, Scharre spent three years as vice president and general manager at Ilex Systems. From 1988 to 1993, he held executive positions at Loral Western Development Labs. In 1985, he founded Theta Corporation and served as president and chief executive officer for three years. He previously held managerial positions at Space Applications Corporation. From 1977 to 1982, Scharre was assistant professor of high energy particle physics at Stanford University. Scharre holds a BS in physics from California Institute of Technology, a Ph.D. in physics from University of California, Berkeley, and an MBA from Santa Clara University.

George L. Spillane became Vice President-Finance and Chief Financial Officer of the Company in November 1980 and Secretary of the Company in October 1981. In April 1994, Mr. Spillane's title was changed to Vice President and Secretary. From 1975 to March 1980, Mr. Spillane was the treasurer of Farinon Corporation (now a part of Harris Corporation). Prior thereto, Mr. Spillane was employed by Arthur Andersen & Co.

Michael L. Foster became a Vice President of the Company in October 1990. Mr. Foster joined California Microwave in 1979 as Manager-Corporate Planning, was promoted to Director-Finance and Planning in 1980 and to Staff Vice President in 1983. Prior thereto, Mr. Foster was with Watkins Johnson, where he held the position of financial manager for one of the systems divisions. Mr. Foster holds an MBA from Stanford University.

Stephanie M. Day (CBC), Vice President-Corporate Communications/Investor Relations, joined California Microwaveís marketing department in 1976. Prior to joining the company, she was a marketing manager with a privately held microwave company and was with a lobbying office in Washington, D.C. She is a Certified Business Communicator through the Business Marketing Association.

Robert G. Parrish joined the Company in January 1996 as Vice President-Human Resources. Mr. Parrish has 25 years of HR experience, 16 of which were spent with Hewlett Packard, in a variety of both corporate and divisional positions. Mr. Parrish holds an MBA (Marketing/Finance) and a BS (Engineering) from the University of California at Los Angeles. He is heavily involved in civic activities including the California Chamber of Commerce Employee Relations Committee, of which he a member.
